The New, Improved Character Survey of Doom

Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy? He's described as being rather tall and lean, not a giant, probably around 5'11 or 6'0"

2. How old is he? Best guess is early to mid twenties.

3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch? He has excellent posture and he's very upright, but in the right situation he's not above relaxing his posture into something more casual.

4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities? Since he's a werewolf he's in excellent health and he kept himself physically fit before his transformation. He might think of his werewolf form as a disability simply because of the overwhelming pain that comes with each transformation.

5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid? His movements are graceful and fluid Alexia thinks he's an acrobat upon their first meeting just because of his build and movements.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror? Very attractive. He's not conceited enough to dwell on his own looks, but being that he's one of Lord Akeldama's Drones there is no doubt that he's physically appealing and he's described as being good looking.

7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred? Fair and unblemished.

8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style. He has dark brown hair, wavy, and as well kept as he could manage, but given that he's a werewolf he is doomed to have slightly scruffy hair.

9. What color are his eyes? Blue.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features? Other than being a chocolate coated werewolf with an oxblood underbelly and a tuft of fur around his neck resembling a cravat, no, not particularly. When he was Lord Akeldama's Drone he wasn't supposed to stand out.

11. What are his chief tension centers? Everywhere. When every bone in your body is breaking and mending your tension centers would be everywhere too. Though I imagine he carries a lot of weight in his shoulders and back.

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit? I would say maybe 80 percent style/dressy, 15 percent utilitarian, and 5 percent casual. I think, as far as colors go, he's probably an autumn type, subdued, but not plain, up to the nines in terms of style.

13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them? His clothing fits like a glove and he cherishes his clothing. He's absolutely comfortable in what he wears.

14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences? Unless he's in his bedroom he wouldn't dare let himself be seen dressed in less than his best...though recently he's had to cope with public nudity.

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando? Drawers...maybe commando in certain situations.



Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse? I can only picture his voice in my head and I imagine something silky-smooth and somewhere between a tenor and a baritone.

2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate? He doesn't normally raise his voice, he speaks rather evenly, and since he knows what he's saying before he says it Biffy is rather articulate.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics? No particular tics, though occasionally a playful lilt enters his voice. He's also an Englishman of Spanish decent, so he has an English accent--I suspect, because his Spanish origin is only touched on briefly.

4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency? It's possible he can speak Spanish but as mentioned before not much is known about his ancestry.

5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations? Not in the books.

6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words? He's an excellent impromptu speaker, he would have to be in order to keep up the level of conversation he must in order to get the information out of people that he requires.

7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change? Usually eloquent and articulate, though he can be slightly crass and teasing when he's feeling playful and when he's angry he might drop his pleasant disposition altogether.



Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart? Book smart and street smart, he's very perceptive and he asks a lot of people a lot of questions.

2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate? It depends on the situation, if he's on the spot he's capable of thinking on his feet. If the situation is more complicated he'll deliberate and pour over research materials and evidence.

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical? Intuitive and something between idealistic and practical.

4. What kind of education has the character had? Probably the best, he comes from the aristocratic class.

5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about? He doesn't really have a particular area of expertise, it's possible he could excel at just about anything like a jack of all trades. He has a particular knack for gathering information.

6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert? An extrovert by Victorian Era standards.

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven? He's very amiable and does his best to maintain a friendly demeanor, but ever since he became a werewolf his spirit has become slightly diminished.

8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic? With enthusiasm, he doesn't become suspicious of others unless he has a good reason and he's usually all for making new acquaintances if for no other reason than to pump them for information.

9. Is he more likely to act, or to react? It depends on the situation.

10. Which is his default: fight or flight? Flight, he's a gentleman and he loathes fighting...but he can be pushed to fight when his loved ones are threatened.

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks? Probably not bathroom humor, pranks, or gallows humor...but he's not above joking around as long as no one's feelings get hurt.

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them? No, he's mentally sound except for when full moon comes around, then he succumbs to moon madness...but that's not the same thing.

13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person? He's probably had two defining moments, becoming a Drone for Lord Akeldama and then becoming a werewolf. Two different lifestyles.

14. What does he fear? The full moon and his painful transformation...also the prospect of being an Alpha and the responsibility involved.

15. What are his hopes or aspirations? At this point? To master the transformation and to bond a bit with his pack.

16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him? He doesn't really have any embarrassing or horrible secrets.



Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents. His parents are unknown though I can't imagine the relationship is close if he decided to become a Drone.

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like? It is unknown if he has siblings.

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand? Not that I'm aware of, his family isn't mentioned in the book.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them? Lord Akeldama and the Drones, his new werewolf pack...though not by choice.

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet? Probably Lord Akeldama at this point and it is unknown how they met.

6. Does he have other close friends? The Drones and Lord and Lady Maccon presently.

7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people? He does usually, except he doesn't have much in common with the rest of the werewolf pack so while he is on civil terms with the pack, but he has no deeper connection.

8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends? His friends are probably his family, so friends.

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once? Single.

10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse? No.

11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest? It's unknown who his first crush is, but more recently he's enamored of Lord Akeldama.

12. What does he look for in a romantic partner? Common ground, a sense of style, probably someone he can protect and treat in his own romantic kind of way.

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any? No, if he did then he wouldn't be a Drone, vampires don't usually accept Drones that have children.

14. Does he have any rivals or enemies? Not really, but he's not very fond of Channing or Felicity.

15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale? I want to say he's a 4, he seems more interested in men than in women, but he's been known to flirt with barmaids and drink with them while they are sitting on his lap. He's also attracted to Lord Akeldama, a very effeminate vampire, so I suspect if the right woman came along he could definitely be tempted.

16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him? He seems to enjoy it and when he's in an intimate relationship he likes contact outside of the bedroom. So sex is probably essential in a relationship though it doesn't seem as important to him when he's single, it's not an obsession.

17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits? It's been alluded to that he's dominate in the bedroom and he's probably an aggressive bed mate. He's probably up to exploring any number of venues as long as it's nothing too messy.



Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type? Have no idea, but I associate Biffy with autumn so Libra or Scorpio more like, though I'm leaning toward Scorpio. Zodiac...maybe the Dog? Could be likely. IDK.

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life? None of the above.

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it? Well good manners and gentlemanly behavior that's probably been cultivated since he was very young. He believes in sporting behavior as well, though he's not afraid of taking on an Alpha 2 to 1.

4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent? He's a pretty tolerant individual all around.

5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them? None really, though he does find the werewolf lifestyle a little on the undignified side.



Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt? Comfortable. He's part of a pack and the pack members take care of one another. He also runs his own business, a hat business, and therefore has his own income.

2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him? He's gone from Aristocrat, to Drone, to Pack member. Since he's the youngest in the pack he's at the bottom of the heap probably, not that he's treated with any lack of respect.

3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others? Currently he lives in a townhouse in London.

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on? His wardrobe and probably toiletries.

5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else? He runs a hat shop. He's actually good at his job, that is when people trust his advice. It's enjoyable enough, though it's probably not what he really wants...it's just something to occupy his time with so he doesn't feel entirely useless.

6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time? Fashion, fencing, hitting the pubs for stimulating conversation and gossip. Not that he has much time for it anymore.

7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods? He needs raw meat, but other than that his eating habits are fairly normal and regular if for no other reason than to keep up his strength. He can drink alcohol but it has no effect on him, ill or otherwise.



Associations
Which of the following do you associate with the character, or which is his favorite:

1. Color? I associate fall colors with Biffy especially oxblood red. Also hunter and midnight green, browns, Persian and alloy orange.
2. Smell? He probably has a very clean scent to mortals with a subtle touch of cologne.
3. Time of day? Any time between sundown and sunup.
4. Season? Autumn.
5. Book? The classics...though I wouldn't put it past him to have something erotic in his collection.
6. Music? Concert and instrumental musical pieces.
7. Place? Lord Akeldama's townhouse?
8. Substance? Ruby gemstone.
9. Plant? Anthurium
10. Animal? Wolf
